Issue 00: An Anti-Taxonomy of Transness
A re-print of Lilac Peril's debut anthology, collecting the work of twenty trans writers and artists. First printed in 2024.
Categories are rarely liberatory. Our attempts at sense-making, at ordering a disordered world, can create rigid, painful borders. Trans people know this deeply. Every interaction with psychiatry, medicine, law enforcement, and other bureaucratic structures sort us into classifications we often do not choose for ourselves. What would it look like to organize knowledge on our own terms? In creating an anti-taxonomy, we seek to intentionally dis-organize, to playfully disrupt, and to celebrate our own contradictions.
